Mara Tesler Stein, Psy.D., PMH-C
Mara Tesler Stein, Psy.D. is a clinical psychologist in private practice specializing in the emotional aspects of coping with crisis around pregnancy & parenting, parent education, child development, and relationship-based and developmentally supportive care to babies and their families. She presents internationally on these issues and consults to health care providers and hospitals, guiding their efforts to improve the level of psychological support and care to families during and subsequent to perinatal crisis. She is the co-author of Parenting Your Premature Baby and Child: The Emotional Journey (Fulcrum, 2004) and Intensive Parenting: Surviving the Journey Through the NICU (Fulctrum, 2013). Dr. Stein is certified in EMDR, is an EMDRIA Approved Consultant and is an EMDRIA Approved Trainer for the Institute for Creative Mindfulness where she is on faculty. She is also certified in Emotion-Focused Family and Couple Therapy, is a Gottman Certified Therapist, and is pursuing training in Clinical Hypnosis through the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis where she has completed Level I training and ongoing consultation. Incorporating ego-state work into all of the above, she brings a wealth of clinical experience to her EMDR Basic Trainings as well as insights from couple and family work. Finally, she brings her experience interviewing families around the world for her two books and multiple trainings and workshops, weaving these, as well as her personal experiences with perinatal trauma into her teaching.
