Postpartum Wellness helps you through your motherhood journey so you can be the mom you always dreamed you'd be. Motherhood is one of the most rewarding and life-changing roles you will experience. And, being a mom is super stressful. Not only are you dealing with the stress of paying bills, making time for doctor visits and checkups, and trying to stay functional as a human being, you are also learning how to be a new mother or how to raise a growing family! You might not recognize depression or anxiety because you are tired, overwhelmed, or simply adjusting to life with a baby. Perhaps you think that this is just part of being a new mother. It’s hard for you and your family to know what is normal mom stuff and what is a symptom of depression or anxiety. You are afraid of being seen as complaining or not able to handle motherhood. You didn’t think it could happen to you. You are blaming yourself for not being able to handle things. You didn't know that this is a medical condition and not a sign of failure. Rosalie Zuniga is the Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Obstetrics/Gynecology Department of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC). She holds clinical social work licenses in Washington, DC (LICSW) and Virginia (LCSW) . She is the owner of Postpartum Wellness, a group counseling practice in the Washington, DC area.
